Are you ready for the barrage of holiday candy? As candy canes and chocolates were freely passed out to my girls without my consent at yesterday’s local Christmas kick-off, I knew I wasn’t! I don’t believe it is good for me to get all stressed out if they get a candy or two (they don’t experience major immediate life threatening allergies) but I will admit that even the idea of them eating it does turn my stomach. Instead of getting stressed out I let them see me kindly pass on such treats.
I am not here to be the Grinch or Bah-Humbug this very fun and festive time of year (I love celebrating Christmas!!!) This is why I try to fill up the season with treats of our own making.
Here is a recipe for one of my favorite seasonal treats which I reserve specifically for this holiday. Besides making a big batch for my own family I will also make a batch to use on goody plates that we pass out to friends and neighbors. This recipe is converted from a generic version when I did an internet search for them a few years ago and it turned out great!
Yummers! =) Linda
Muddy Buddies
- 9 cups rice cereal
- 1 cup vegan chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. non-hydrogenated peanut butter
- 1/4 cup fat (butter, coconut oil, or Earth Balance)
- 1 t. organic vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 c. organic powdered sugar
Pour cereal into a large mixing bowl, set aside.
In a 1 quart sauce pan, using medium to low heat, melt chocolate chips, peanut butter and fat. Stir constantly until melted and smooth.
Stir in vanilla.
Pour chocolate sauce over cereal, stirring to coat evenly.
At this point you can leave it in your bowl (the lazy way… this is how I do it for my family) or you can put it into a large zip lock bag.
Add powder sugar and either stir (kept in a bowl) until all is coated with the sugar… or shake the bag until all pieces are evenly coated (This method makes the rice squares look nicer… it gives a more even powdery coating… I reserve this method when making my goody plates for the neighbors).
After all are coated spread mix onto a cookie sheet (which can be lined with wax paper if you don’t want the mess to clean up). Because it is nice and chilly outside I set my pan out on the picnic table for a few minutes to cool. Enjoy!

Kal Sellers to be in the St. George area…
setting up appointments now.
Also for those in the Southern Utah area, we are looking to see if there are enough people who want to set up an appointment with Kal Sellers. He is planning the possibility of being here just before Christmas. As he will be a long way from his home in GA, we need to see if there are enough people who want to set up appointments. Those who pre-set their appointment with me will receive a free tincture; i-charge, liver tincture, or rosemary.
